Station 291 was called to the Black Horse Pike, at Star Distributors, for a working building fire. Command arrived and advised of heavy smoke covering the roadway, confirmed a working building fire and added Stations 295 and 433 to the assignment. Crews arrived and went into service with multiple hand lines to extinguish the blaze. The fire was placed under control in 70 minutes. Extensive overhaul was performed and the last piece of apparatus cleared in about 4 hours. County fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Sunday morning Engine 291 was called for wires down on the Black Horse Pike near Forest Drive. Command arrived and advised power was out in the area. While at the wires call Engine 291 was called for an alarm system in a near by neighborhood. The alarm had tripped due to the power outage. Station 291's Fire Police was also called to assist police with the intersections where power was out.

Friday afternoon Engine 291 was called to the Sams Club parking lot for a reported vehicle fire. County advised of an engine compartment fire. Command arrived on location and found the fire was extinguished by a Sams Club employee. Crews arrived to secure power to the vehicle and confirm the fire was out. The engine company was available shortly after.

Shortly after noon on Thanksgiving Station 291 was called to Harvard Place for a reported oven fire. Command arrived on location with light smoke showing. The fire was extinguished and the homeowner refused removal of the oven. The station was available within 25 minutes.

Wednesday morning Station 291 was called to Garwood Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. The call was placed by a person in the area that saw black smoke coming from the chimney of a house. Command arrived on location with nothing showing. Crews arrived and began investigating. It was determined that the heater was malfunctioning and sending dark smoke up the chimney. With no further fire department services needed the station went available.

Saturday evening Station 291 was called to Barbados Drive for a reported dwelling fire. Command signed on and was advised of a garage fire. Shortly later command arrived on location and advised the fire was out. Fumes from a spray foam flashed when a hot water heater had turned on. Crews arrived on location and found negative extension. The station was clear in 20 minutes.

Thursday morning Station 291 was called to South Black Horse Pike for a reported building fire in a hair salon. Dispatched advised that the caller smelled something burning but no alarms were going off in the building. Command arrived on location with nothing showing. The smell was found to be an electrical short. The power to the building was secured. With nothing further the fire department could do the station went available.

Shortly after midnight Station 291 was called to Nevada Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. Command arrived on location and reported that a pet chewed on a wire causing an electrical smell to fill the residence. The assignment was recalled shortly after.

As drill was about to begin at Juniper Village Station 291 was called to Clayton Road for a reported dwelling fire. County advised the caller noticed thick black smoke coming from the chimney with possibly nobody home. Crews arrived and were able to gain access to the dwelling where they found a malfunctioning heater. The heater was secured and the station went back to drill.

Monday morning Engine 291 was called to Glassboro to setup a helicopter landing zone while their crews were at the scene of a serious head on accident. There were 2 trapped patients in the vehicles. With two helicopters already in the air and no way for Station 291 trucks to make it to the scene in time they were recalled. The dual landing zone was handled by Glassboro crews already in the area.

Monday morning Engine 291 was called to North Main Street and Eldridge Ave for wires. Command arrived on location and advised that a transformer had blown when a squirrel crossed it. The blown transformer caused the power to trip in the area which set off an alarm system on Tuckahoe Road. Crews handled both assignments and went available within 20 minutes.

As crews were just returning from an Investigate Smoke call on Sicklerville Road Engine 291 was called out for a reported brush fire. Dispatched advised that a person was seen pouring gasoline on the ground and lighting it on fire. Crews arrived and found homeowners extinguishing a burning pile of poison ivy. They were advised it was not only illegal to have an open burn but it was dangerous to burn poison ivy. With the fire extinguished the Engine company went available.

Saturday afternoon Station 291 was called out for its second reported dwelling fire of the day. County advised an alarm was sounding and there was a reported light haze in the house. Command arrived on location with nothing showing and found another careless cooking call. With the house still charged with light smoke crews arrived and went into service ventilating the structure. The station was available once the dwelling was cleared of smoke.

Engine 291 was called to Longfellow Drive for an alarm system. Command arrived on location and advised of careless cooking with some smoke in the dwelling. Crews arrived and went into service ventilating the building. Once the smoke was cleared and the alarm reset the Engine Company went available.

Station 291 was called to South Main Street Saturday morning for a reported dwelling fire. Report from dispatch was that a sump pump caught fire in the basement and the resident attempted to extinguish it and then evacuated. Command arrived and reported the fire was extinguished. Crews entered the dwelling and secured its power then went into service with a thermal imaging camera to verify negative extension into the rest of the building. With negative extension and no further fire department services needed the station went available.
