- - Wednesday 04/29/09 @ 21:40 - Fumes Wednesday night Engine 291 was called to Chestnut Street for a reported smell of natural gas in a dwelling. Crews arrived on location and found the owner had bumped the knob on the stove causing the gas leak. Crews went in service venting the dwelling for about 20 minutes to remove the gas. Once the gas meter was reading normal levels again the Engine company was made available.
- - Tuesday 04/28/09 @ 18:08 - Building Tuesday afternoon Station 291 and Station 295 were called to Meadowview Nursing Home for a reported building fire. The caller complained of the smell of smoke in the building and visible smoke from the roof line. Shortly after dispatch command arrived on location and found a light haze in the kitchen. Upon further investigation a small fire was found on the roof line in the area of a roofing crew. Incoming crews were advised to gain access to the roof and go in service with a water can to extinguish the blaze and thermal imaging camera to check for extension. The remainder of the crews assisted in ventilation of the building to remove the smoke from the interior. With the fire out and the smoke clear both Stations were made available within 30 minutes.
- - Sunday 04/26/09 @ 18:00 - Building Sunday evening Station 291 was called to Poplar Street, at the Speedy Wash Laundromat, for a reported building fire. Command quickly arrived on location and found a burning dryer full of clothes with flames showing from the dryer and the building filling with smoke. Crews responded and went in service with a water can and booster line to bring the fire under control. Utilities in the building were secured and crews checked for extension in the area of the dryer. Crews remained on scene venting the building while the County and local fire marshals were conducting their investigation. With no further fire department services needed the Station was available within an hour.
- - Sunday 04/26/09 @ 14:10 - Brush On a warm Sunday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Dartmoor Ave for a reported brush fire. While in route, command advised county that from a 1/4 mile out a column of smoke was visible. He arrived shortly after and confirmed an active 70x40 brush fire. Crews responded to the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control with a brush truck. The NJ Forest Fire Service was also on location and planned to overhaul the area. The scene was turned over to them and Engine 291 was made available.
- - Thursday 04/23/09 @ 19:46 - Building Thursday evening Station 291 was called to Glassboro Road for a reported building fire across from Monroe Auto Body with flames showing. Command arrived on location with heavy smoke and fire showing from a 150x75 mixed use building. Crews arrived shortly after and went in service with multiple hand lines attempting to extinguish a well advanced fire. An aggressive attack was made but operations were eventually switched to a defensive attack as heavy fire progressed through out the building and conditions deteriorated rapidly. Multiple master streams were setup to bring the fire under control and protect the exposures. The fire reached 3 alarms with multiple tankers special called due to hydrant issues. - - Wednesday 04/22/09 @ 08:11 - Cover Wednesday morning Engine 291 was called to cover Station 43-3 while their crews were out on a house fire in their district. Engine 2911 responded with 5. Crews remained in their station for 90 minutes. No calls were run while cover 43-3's local.
- - Tuesday 04/21/09 @ 13:49 - Fumes Tuesday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Barbados Drive for reported fumes. Shortly after command arrived on location and found that a contractor had struck a residential gas line. South Jersey Gas was notified and crews remained on scene for about 30 minutes while the leak was secured.
- - Sunday 04/19/09 @ 01:21 - Rubbish Early Sunday morning Engine 291 was called out for another rubbish fire. This call was on North Main Street. Crews responded and found a large pile of rubbish on fire in the rear of the dwelling. One hand line was put in service to extinguish the blaze and bring the fire under control in less than 5 minutes. With the fire extinguished the company was made available.
- - Saturday 04/18/09 @ 15:42 - Rubbish Saturday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Dartmoor Ave for a reported trash can fire. While in route command was advised that a neighbor called about a trash can fire next to the house. Shortly after command arrived on location and advised the fire to be extinguished. Crews arrived and cooled the area down and checked the home for extension. With the fire extinguished and negative extension the company was made available.
- - Wednesday 04/15/09 @ 03:40 - Cover Early Wednesday morning Station 291 was called to cover Franklin Township Station 43-3 while their crews were out on a multi alarm dwelling fire. Crews responded and remained in Station 43-3 until after 06:30. No calls were run in 43-3's local during the cover assignment.
- - Monday 04/13/09 @ 22:05 - MVC Monday night Engine 291 was called to Glassboro Road, at the Glassboro line, for a reported motor vehicle crash. Command arrived on location and found a single car crash with the car overturned in a ditch and primary wires down. Atlantic City Electric was notified and crews remained on scene until their arrival. Once ACE was on scene and the car was removed the Engine company was made available.
- - Monday 04/13/09 @ 18:37 - Dwelling Monday evening Station 291 was called to Stockton Drive for a reported dwelling fire. Shortly after dispatch command was advised of an oven fire with the house filling with smoke, an audible alarm in the background, and the residents safely outside. Command arrived moments later and found the fire to be extinguished but the house full of smoke. Crews arrived and went into service clearing the house of smoke and checking for extension. With the smoke cleared and no extension found the Station went available.
- - Saturday 04/11/09 @ 01:29 - Wires Saturday morning Engine 291 was called to Tuckahoe Road for a motor vehicle crash with wires down. Crews responded to the scene and found a single car versus pole with wires on top of the car. Atlantic City Electric and Verizon were notified. Crews remained on scene assisting with traffic control until the car and wires were removed. Monroe Twp OEM was special called for fluids in the soil at the accident scene.
- - Thursday 04/09/09 @ 00:42 - Dwelling Early Thursday morning Station 291 was called to Dartmore Ave for a reported dwelling fire. Command responded and was advised of a smell of smoke in the basement for some time. Crews were on scene shortly after and began investigating. The source of the odor was believed to be a malfunctioning heater. The homeowner was advised of the problem and with no further fire department services needed the station went available.
- - Tuesday 04/07/09 @ 00:37 - Cover Early Tuesday morning Engine 291 was called to cover Atlantic County Station 23 while their crews were out at a multi alarm building fire in Hammonton. Crews remained in Station 23 until shortly after 03:30 with no calls in their local.
- - Monday 04/06/09 @ 11:14 - Wires Monday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Glassboro Road for a reported transformer fire. Crews responded and found a transformer was on fire and had exploded prior to fire department arrival. This caused a large power outage in the area and several subsequent automatic fire alarm calls. Police remained on scene of the blown transformer while crews responded to the other calls. All calls were handled without incident and Engine 291 was available within 30 minutes.
- - Saturday 04/04/09 @ 17:10 - Wires On a windy Saturday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Walnut Street twice for reports of down wires. During the first call, in the early afternoon, command notified dispatch that branches from a tree were laying on the live electrical wires. A pole number was copied down and Atlantic City Electric (ACE) was notified. The second call was in the same area, hours later. This time branches had gotten under the live wires and as the wind blew the wires would touch and arc. ACE was notified of the problem and the Engine company was clear. Later that evening ACE was on location trimming trees on the street to prevent further issues.
- - Saturday 04/04/09 @ 12:51 - Dwelling Shortly after noon on Saturday Station 291 was called into Franklin Township for a reported dwelling fire. The caller reported a burning odor smell in the house and the lights flashing. Station 291 crews responded to the scene and staged while crews from Station 43-3 checked the dwelling. The problem was found to be a faulty light in the kitchen. Shortly after Station 291 was made available.
