Station 291 was called to North Main Street for a reported dwelling fire. While command was en route he was advised of a kitchen fire. Once on location command advised the fire was out. Crews arrived and went into service checking for extension and clearing the dwelling of smoke. The station was available within 20 minutes.

Engine 291 was called to Library Street for a reported alarm system. Command arrived on scene and found a light smoke condition. Upon further investigation it was found to be careless cooking. Crews arrived and went into service venting the building to clear it of smoke. With the smoke clear and no further fire department services needed the station was available.

Thursday engine 291 was called to the area of East Fox Trail for a reported brush fire. Command arrived on location and found a 15x20 brush fire in the retention pond. Brush 2915 arrived and went in service to extinguish the blaze. The fire was placed under control in less than 10 minutes and the Engine company was made available.

Wednesday evening Station 291 was called to New Brooklyn Road for a reported dwelling. County advised of an abandoned house with smoke showing. Shortly after command arrived on scene and found a light smoke condition. Upon further investigation the smoke was found to be from some construction materials that were on fire near the side of the house. Crews arrived and extinguished the blaze with a water can.

Saturday afternoon Engine 291 was called by Monroe PD for a standby assignment at Geets Diner. Police had found an ordinance in the area and were waiting for the County Bomb Squad to arrive. Crews remained on scene for about 60 minutes without incident. Once the bomb squad had removed the device the company went available.

Friday evening Station 291 was called to Winslow Road for a reported dwelling fire. County advised command the homeowner was trying to light a wood stove when the firewood fell onto the floor. Crews arrived shortly after and went into service with a water can to extinguish the fire and fan to vent the dwelling. With the fire out and the smoke cleared the station went available.

Thursday morning Engine 291 was called to Whitehall School to assist Cecil Fire Department with a helicopter landing zone while their crews were at the scene of a head on accident on Piney Hollow Road. Crews responded to the Helispot but were recalled shortly after due to the helicopters being grounded because of fog.

Tuesday evening Engine 291 was called to Maidstone Drive for a reported brush fire. Command arrived on location and found light smoke in the area. Upon further investigation command found a pile of twigs that had been extinguished. The call was held to a single brush truck to wet down the area. The company was available in 10 minutes.

Engine 291 was called to Bodine Avenue near Oak Knoll School for reported fumes. Command arrived on location and found a construction company had ruptured a gas line. SJ Gas was notified and crews secured the leak. Once SJ Gas was on location the Engine company went available.

Monday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Integrity Auto on the Black Horse Pike for a reported vehicle fire. County advised of a car on fire next to the building in the side lot. Command arrived and confirmed a fully involved vehicle. Crews arrived and went into service with a 1 3/4 inch hand line to extinguish the fire. The company was available in 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Engine 291 was called to the Car Wash near South Main Street and the Black Horse Pike for a trash can fire. Crews arrived and extinguished the blaze with a booster line. With the fire extinguished the company went available.

Monday afternoon Station 291 was called to Prosser Ave for a reported dwelling fire. County advised command of a chimney fire with the residents advised to evacuate. Command arrived shortly after and found no active fire. Crews arrived and went in service clearing the dwelling of smoke and checking for extension from the damaged chimney. With no further fire department services needed the Station went available.

Saturday night Engine 291 was called to Route 322, near Fries Mill Road, for a serious 3 car motor vehicle crash with 2 entrapped. While in route to the scene command was advised that PD was requesting two helicopters flown. Command established a landing zone at the High School with the first due crews while the second in crews responded directly the scene to assist the Rescue Squad. 2 patients were heavily entrapped in 2 separate cars and upon extrication were flown to Cooper Trauma. The patient in the third vehicle had negative entrapment and was transported via ground to an area hospital. The crash is under investigation by Monroe PD.

Saturday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Debra Court for a reported brush fire. Command arrived on location and found a brush fire near a retention pond. First in crews were advised to respond to the retention pond and cut the locked fence to gain access to the fire ground. Engine 2912 was sent to the corner of Prince Avenue and the bike trail to establish a water supply. Crews brought the fire under control in about 10 minutes and were available shortly after.

- - Sunday 02/01/09 @ 10:45 - Fatal Dwelling
Sunday morning Station 291 was dispatched to the 1000 block of Hill Terrace for multiple calls of flames through the roof. While in route command asked dispatch of a known occupancy and a cross check on previous lift assist calls on that block. County advised unknown occupancy but a car in the driveway. Shortly after command arrived on scene with heavy fire showing. Crews arrived and went in service with multiple hand lines. Crews gained access in the rear of the dwelling and made an aggressive interior attack. Due to heavy fire in the roof crews were pulled from the interior and went defensive with the ladder's master stream. With the bulk of the fire knocked down crews entered for a secondary search and found 1 victim DOA. Crews remained on scene until 1600 cooling hotspots and assisting the investigators. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
