- - Monday 03/30/09 @ 04:33 - Fumes Monday morning, following a strong thunderstorm, Engine 291 was called to Glassboro Road for a reported smell of gas in a building. Command arrived on location and found heavy natural gas. Upon further investigation crews also found a large amount of water in the building. It turns out the building had been struck by lightning several hours earlier which caused a small fire in the Electrical Room. The sprinklers went off and successfully extinguished the fire. Crews secured the water and gas supplies to the building and began venting it to remove the large amount of gas. The county fire marshal's office was called to investigate.
- - Saturday 03/28/09 @ 03:23 - MVC Saturday morning Engine 291 was called to Glassboro Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment and wires down. Command arrived on scene shortly after and advised of a single car vs. pole with negative entrapment and primary wires down. Crews secured power to the vehicle and attempted to prevent leaking fluids from entering the storm drains. Once Atlantic City Electric was on location and the car removed from the roadway the Engine company went available. While crews were on scene of the accident another call was received in 291's for a tripped alarm system due to the down wires.
- - Friday 03/27/09 @ 19:33 - Dwelling Friday evening Station 291 was called to Glassboro Road for a reported dwelling fire. While in route to the scene command was advised of a trash can fire impinging on the house. Shortly after command arrived on scene and advised dispatch the fire was out. Crews continued into the scene and went in service wetting the area down to ensure the fire was out and found negative extension into the house. With no further fire department services needed the Station went available.
- - Thursday 03/26/09 @ 21:31 - MVC Thursday evening Engine 291 was called to Clayton Road and Corkery Lane for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment. County advised of a car vs. pole. Crews responded to the scene and secured power to the vehicles and assisted the squad. Atlantic City Electric was notified for wires down. While crews were at the accident scene 2 more calls were received in 291's local for alarm systems. The false alarms were handled and crews were available from all calls within 2 hours.
- - Tuesday 03/24/09 @ 11:06 - Brush Engine 291 was called to Woodland Drive for a reported brush fire. While in route to the scene command was advised the caller complained of a sewer on fire. Command arrived on location advising smoke showing from the storm drain. Crews responded to the scene and extinguished burning leaves in the drain. With the fire out the scene was turned over to Monroe Road Dept and the engine company was made available.
- - Monday 03/23/09 @ 15:53 - Fumes Engine 291 was called to Stallion Court for reported fumes. Command arrived on location and found a house heavily charged with natural gas. Crews secured the gas supply to the house and ventilated the structure to remove the fumes. Once the home was cleared of the gas and the homeowner advised to call the gas company for a repair Station 291 was made available.
- - Sunday 03/22/09 @ 04:30 - MVC Early Sunday morning Engine 291 was called to the intersection of Radix Road and Jones Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Police were on location confirming entrapment and requesting 2 more ambulances. Crews from Engine 291 responded to the scene and assisted the rescue with extrication. With the patients removed and the power secured the cars were able to be removed from the roadway. Once removed the company went available.
- - Wednesday 03/18/09 @ 17:01 - Brush Wednesday evening Engine 291 was called to Gilbert Court for a reported brush fire. County Dispatch advised the caller noted flames and smoke visible. Crews responded and found a 50x50 area on fire. The brush trucks and engines responded to the scene and had the fire under control in 10 minutes.
- - Friday 03/13/09 @ 13:22 - Dwelling While responding to an automatic fire alarm on Candlewood Road command was advised of another call in the local. This was a reported dwelling fire on Rushfoil Drive. The 2nd assistant chief, already on location of the false alarm, handled the first call while crews diverted to the dwelling. While in route to the dwelling command was updated that the caller complained of a burning smell coming from the vents. Dispatch also advised that the State Forest Fire Service was doing a prescribed burn in Winslow Twp. that was causing the area to be covered in smoke. Shortly after Engine 2911 arrived with nothing showing and began investigating. Crews were unable to find the source but went in service venting the dwelling. With the smoke clear the station was made available.
- - Monday 03/09/09 @ 09:29 - Building Monday morning Station 291 was called to North Black Horse Pike for a reported building fire. The caller stated there was heavy black smoke coming from the roof. Crews responded and found smoke was exiting a chimney for the heater system. This was an easy investigation for crews who were at the same location a few weeks prior for the same problem. The owners were advised of their malfunctioning heater and the station was available within 10 minutes.
- - Saturday 03/07/09 @ 18:24 - Dwelling Saturday evening Station 291 was called to Saint Lucia Court for a reported dishwasher fire. Command arrived and upon further investigation found the homeowner had mistaken steam from the dishwasher as smoke. Crews continued into the scene at reduced speed while command confirmed the steam. The station was available within 10 minutes.
- - Wednesday 03/04/09 @ 17:46 - Dwelling Wednesday afternoon Station 291 was dispatched to Whispering Woods Drive for a dwelling fire. County advised command of a reported oven fire with audible alarm in the background. Command arrived on location to find the fire had been extinguished but the house was filled with smoke. Crews went in service ventilating the dwelling to clear it of smoke. With the smoke cleared and no further fire department services needed the Station went available.
- - Wednesday 03/04/09 @ 00:54 - Dwelling Early Wednesday morning Station 291 was called to White Oak Road for a reported dwelling fire. While in route command was advised by county that the caller stated there was a strong odor of something burning inside the house, they were advised to evacuate. Shortly after command arrived on location with nothing showing and upon further investigation found a burning odor. Crews arrived and began investigating with thermal imaging cameras. The source was found to be a malfunctioning heater unit. The Station was made available in just over 30 minutes.
- - Tuesday 03/03/09 @ 18:53 - MVC Tuesday evening Engine 291 was called to the intersection of the Black Horse Pike and Corkery Lane for a reported motor vehicle crash. Crews arrived on scene and went in service securing the power to the vehicles and applying oil dry to fluids that had leaked. Once the cars were loaded on the tow trucks the Engine company was available.
- - Monday 03/02/09 - On Call On Monday, during the snow storm, Station 291 was manned with a volunteer crew to respond to any calls. Crews remained in station from midnight until the early afternoon with only 1 call for an alarm system. With plows making good progress clearing the roads the crews were released.
- - Sunday 03/01/09 @ 14:21 - Assist 29-5 Brush truck 291 was called on Sunday afternoon to assist Station 29-5 was a structure fire deep in the woods. Cecil Command had a mobile home, 12x40, that was fully involved upon arrival. Brush 2915 and 2917 responded and were in service for about an hour assisting with extinguishing the blaze. With the fire out and nothing further for the brush trucks Station 291 was made available.
