Friday evening Engine 291 was called to Glassboro Road for a reported vehicle fire. While in route command was updated that there was a fire underneath the vehicle. Shortly after command arrived on location with nothing showing. After some investigation it was determined that the fire was extinguished prior to our arrival. The company was quickly recalled and made available.

- - Saturday 11/21/09 @ 14:50 - MVC
Early Saturday afternoon Engine 291 was called to New Brooklyn Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with wires down. Shortly after dispatch command arrived on location and confirmed wires down. Atlantic City Electric was requested to the scene. Once the electric company was on location there was nothing further for the fire department to do so they were made available. Station 291 Fire Police remained on location to assist PD with traffic control while the pole was secured.

- - Saturday 11/21/09 @ 10:34 - Building
Saturday morning Station 291 was called to Meadow View Nursing Home for a reported alarm system that was upgraded to a building due to reports of something burning in the building. As command was responding he was advised that half the electric was also out in the building. Crews arrived and began investigating to determine the cause of the burning smell. The building was checked with a thermal imaging camera while crews laddered the roof and began to check the ventilation system. While on the roof crews found a problem with a motor that was believed to be the cause of the smell in the building. Power was secured to the roof unit and maintenance was advised of the problem. While crews were at the scene of the building call Engine 291 was also called for an alarm system on Main Street. Engine 2911 handled that call without incident. Station 291 was clear from both calls by 11:30.

Tuesday morning Station 291 was called to Huxley Court for a reported dwelling fire. As command was responding to the scene he was advised by dispatch that the homeowner stated their microwave was on fire. Crews arrived shortly after and confirmed a small microwave fire. They extinguished the blaze and began venting the dwelling to remove the smoke. It was reported that the owner suffered minor burns to the hands while trying to extinguish the fire themselves. The county fire marshal is investigating the fire.

Monday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Tuckahoe Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Command arrived on location and found a single car vs. tree with heavy entrapment. The helicopter was requested. South Star landed at Cross Keys Airport and the flight crew was transported to the scene. The patient was extricated at 14:32 and transported to Cross Keys Airport to be flown to Cooper Trauma.

Sunday evening Engine 291 was called to the intersection of New Brooklyn Road and the Black Horse Pike for their 5th call of the day, a reported 3 car motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Command arrived on location and advised a single person was entrapped. Shortly after the patient was able to remove himself from the car. Crews arrived and secured power to the vehicle and applied oil dry to the road before being released at 20:19.

As crews were packing up from the Brookdale dwelling call Engine 291 was called to the Forest Hills Development for a reported gas leak from a motor vehicle crash. Crews quickly arrived on location and found a car vs. pole with wires down and an active gas leak. South Jersey Gas and Atlantic City Electric were called to the scene. Once all utilities were secured the car was able to be removed. The company was made available at 20:34.

Sunday evening Station 291 was called to the Brookdale Development for a reported dwelling fire. As command was in route he was advised by dispatch that the caller stated he saw visible flames behind a door in the heater closet. Fire police arrived on location and advised of a light smoke condition in the dwelling. Crews arrived and went into service to quickly extinguish a small fire. A BLS unit was requested to the scene for a resident with burns to the hands. The county fire marshal is investigating the fire.

Engine 291 was called to the Black Horse Pike near Walnut Street for a reported 2 car motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Command arrived on location and advised of negative entrapment. Crews continued into the scene where they applied oil dry to the road and secured power to the vehicles. The Company was quickly made available while Station 291 fire police remained on location to assist PD with traffic control.

- - Thursday 11/12/09 @ 13:03 - Dwelling
Thursday afternoon Station 291 was called to Barbados Drive for a reported dryer fire. While in route command was advised the caller saw visible flames in the dryer and the house was filling with smoke. Upon arrival command found the dryer was already removed from the residence and the bulk of the fire was knocked down. Crews arrived and went in service to extinguish the minor blaze and ventilate the dwelling to remove the smoke from it. The station was available within 15 minutes.

As crews were assembling to go to drill at the Camden County Burn Building Engine 291, along with Rescue and Squad 294, was dispatched to the Black Horse Pike for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Shortly after dispatch command arrived on location and confirmed a single car vs. tree with entrapment. It was quickly determined that the driver was DOA. Crews remained on scene for some time before being released to go to drill. The rescue remained on scene until 18:45 to light the scene while local authorities performed their investigation.

Tuesday afternoon Engine 291 was called to Joanie Ave for a reported brush fire. Command arrived and found an active 10x15 brush fire. Brush truck 2915 arrived on location and was advised to go into service with a forestry line. The fire was quickly brought under control without incident.

Saturday morning Engine 291 was dispatched, along with the Rescue and Squad from 294, to the intersection of the Black Horse Pike and New Brooklyn Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Command arrived on location and confirmed a single patient entrapped. Engine 2914 arrived and was instructed to go in service with their rescue tool. Crews removed both drivers' side doors to gain access to the patient. Extrication was complete 20 minutes after dispatch. With the patient removed and the car off the roadway the Engine Company was made available.

- - Wednesday 11/04/09 @ 03:37 - Dwelling
Early Wednesday morning Station 291 was called to North Black Horse Pike for a reported building fire. As command was in route he was advised the call was being upgraded to a working fire due to multiple reports of thick black smoke showing. Police arrived on location and confirmed a vacant dwelling on fire on South Black Horse Pike. Crews arrived shortly after and stretched a 1 3/4 inch hand line through the rear of the dwelling where they found heavy smoke and fire on the second floor. The fire was quickly extinguished. Interior crews began opening up the walls to check for extension while other crews ventilated the dwelling to clear it of smoke. The county fire marshal was requested to the scene to investigate. The station was clear from the scene at 06:13.

Tuesday evening Engine 291 was called to the Oak Knoll School for a reported alarm system. While command was in route he was advised the alarm was tripped by a pull station inside the building. Once on location he found smoke in the basement and the call was upgraded to a building. Shortly after, crews arrived and began investigating to find the cause for the smoke; which was determined to be a burnt up belt on a compressor. The power was secured and the building was ventilated to remove the smoke. With nothing further the company was made available at 19:10.

Shortly after midnight Saturday morning Engine 291 was called to the Black Horse Pike to wash down the roadway and clear a deer that was hit by a vehicle. Brush truck 2915 responded to the scene where they went in service with a booster line to wash the road down. Once the road was clear and able to be open again the Engine Company was made available.
