Thursday morning Station 291 was called to South Black Horse Pike for a reported building fire in a hair salon. Dispatched advised that the caller smelled something burning but no alarms were going off in the building. Command arrived on location with nothing showing. The smell was found to be an electrical short. The power to the building was secured. With nothing further the fire department could do the station went available.

Shortly after midnight Station 291 was called to Nevada Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. Command arrived on location and reported that a pet chewed on a wire causing an electrical smell to fill the residence. The assignment was recalled shortly after.

- - Tuesday 11/11/08 @ 19:09 - Dwelling
As drill was about to begin at Juniper Village Station 291 was called to Clayton Road for a reported dwelling fire. County advised the caller noticed thick black smoke coming from the chimney with possibly nobody home. Crews arrived and were able to gain access to the dwelling where they found a malfunctioning heater. The heater was secured and the station went back to drill.

Monday morning Engine 291 was called to Glassboro to setup a helicopter landing zone while their crews were at the scene of a serious head on accident. There were 2 trapped patients in the vehicles. With two helicopters already in the air and no way for Station 291 trucks to make it to the scene in time they were recalled. The dual landing zone was handled by Glassboro crews already in the area.

- - Monday 11/03/08 @ 08:24 - Wires/Alarm
Monday morning Engine 291 was called to North Main Street and Eldridge Ave for wires. Command arrived on location and advised that a transformer had blown when a squirrel crossed it. The blown transformer caused the power to trip in the area which set off an alarm system on Tuckahoe Road. Crews handled both assignments and went available within 20 minutes.

- - Saturday 11/01/08 @ 17:30 - Brush
As crews were just returning from an Investigate Smoke call on Sicklerville Road Engine 291 was called out for a reported brush fire. Dispatched advised that a person was seen pouring gasoline on the ground and lighting it on fire. Crews arrived and found homeowners extinguishing a burning pile of poison ivy. They were advised it was not only illegal to have an open burn but it was dangerous to burn poison ivy. With the fire extinguished the Engine company went available.

Saturday afternoon Station 291 was called out for its second reported dwelling fire of the day. County advised an alarm was sounding and there was a reported light haze in the house. Command arrived on location with nothing showing and found another careless cooking call. With the house still charged with light smoke crews arrived and went into service ventilating the structure. The station was available once the dwelling was cleared of smoke.

Engine 291 was called to Longfellow Drive for an alarm system. Command arrived on location and advised of careless cooking with some smoke in the dwelling. Crews arrived and went into service ventilating the building. Once the smoke was cleared and the alarm reset the Engine Company went available.

Station 291 was called to South Main Street Saturday morning for a reported dwelling fire. Report from dispatch was that a sump pump caught fire in the basement and the resident attempted to extinguish it and then evacuated. Command arrived and reported the fire was extinguished. Crews entered the dwelling and secured its power then went into service with a thermal imaging camera to verify negative extension into the rest of the building. With negative extension and no further fire department services needed the station went available.

- - Friday 10/31/08 @ 12:48 - MVC
Engine 291 was called to Fries Mill Road on Friday afternoon for a motor vehicle crash with wires down. Crews arrived on location and found a car vs. pole with wires down. Atlantic City Electric was notified and reported to the scene. Upon their arrival they secured power to the area to work on the wires. Crews secured power to the vehicle and stood by until it was removed. Once the car was removed the Engine company went available while Police handled the remaining traffic control.

- - Friday 10/31/08 @ 00:18 - Building
Station 291, along with Station 295, was called to Holly Glen School on North Main Street for a reported building fire. County advised they were told there was smoke coming from the building. Command arrived on location and reported nothing showing. Crews arrived shortly after and went into service investigating. It was determined that the smoke was from the smoke stack on the heating system and there was no fire. With no further fire department services needed both stations were made available.

- - Thursday 10/30/08 @ 21:03 - Dwelling
Station 291 was called to Chestnut Street for a reported dwelling fire. First reports were of a heater fire in the basement. Command arrived on location with nothing showing. Crews arrived shortly after and went in service with a thermal imaging camera to verify that when the heater backfired it did not extend to the rest of the basement. The building was cleared and Station 291 was available within 12 minutes of dispatch.

- - Saturday 10/25/08 @ 05:28 - MVC
Early Saturday morning crews from Engine 291 were alerted of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment and fire on Clayton Road. PD arrived on location and advised of negative entrapment and negative fire. The fire was found to be steam from the engine compartment. Once crews arrived on location they secured power to the vehicle and applied oil dry to the road. Shortly after the tow truck arrived and removed the car from the road. The engine company was available within 20 minutes.

- - Friday 10/24/08 @ 17:27 - Dwelling
Friday afternoon Station 291 was called to Crowfoot Lane for reported flames in the laundry room. Command arrived on location and advised of a working fire and requested the incoming crews to lead off with a water can. Upon entry crews found a smokey dryer fire that they were able to extinguish with a water can. The dwelling was cleared of smoke and the station went available within 90 minutes.

Station 291, along with Station 43-2 and Collings Lakes Station 23, were called to Piney Hollow Road and the Black Horse Pike to assist Station 29-5 and the State Forest Fire with a reported brush fire. Crews assisted the Forest Fire Service for some time and were then released. As of 1900 hours the State Forest Fire was still at the scene.

- - Wednesday 10/22/08 @ 16:01 - Vehicle
Engine 291 was called to York Avenue for a reported commercial vehicle fire. The first report from county was that a dump truck was on fire. Command arrived on location and advised of a well involved engine and passenger compartment. Crews arrived shortly after and went into service with a 1 3/4 inch hand line to extinguish the fire. County fire marshal was called to investigate. Local OEM was also called to the scene. All crews were available within the hour.
